Being raised in a family where most of my elders are diabetic patients, I completely empathize towards the issues they have to face in their routine lives. Honestly speaking, a simple bruise takes quite number of days to get healed. They have to keep keen eye on their health, routine activities, balanced diet and so on. Monitoring their blood sugar daily, visiting doctor, checking cholesterol and maintaining a healthy balanced diet are the essentials of their lifestyle. Hygiene, care and proper diet plays a vital role to control diabetes leading towards a healthy and hassle-free lifestyle. As I have observed and dealt with diabetes, therefore the following foot care regime would help many to maintain a healthy lifestyle as I did.
- Keep inspecting your feet and seek for bruises, sores, blisters and space between the toes.
- For a healthy regime, wash your feet and trim your toe nails as they get soft after wash then dry them.
- Keep your feet moisturized if they get dry and rough.
- Try not to walk barefoot in order to avoid injuries.
- Quality pair of socks provides an extra layer of soft protection.
- Wear supportive footwear with enough space enabling the toes to breathe.
- Do not forego any minor injuries.
- Visit your doctor occasionally.
- Follow a healthy and balanced diet.
- Stay positive and inspire others.
